About the event

The Elemental Self

This workshop is an embodied exploration of creativity through symbolic movement, guided by the wisdom of the four elements: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.

Participants are invited into a somatic storytelling journey, where the body becomes the home for 4 different characters within yourself that are essential to the story of your own creative awakening.

These 4 characters or spirits are at the same time 4 languages that you can learn to speak through your body movement. They are not “roles” to perform, but intelligences to remember. They are filled with symbols, images, emotions and ways of feeling and inhabiting the body. Together, these four characters form your ELEMENTAL CREATIVE SELF.

As we attune to these inner forces through movement, we reclaim forgotten parts of our creative nature and begin to integrate them into daily life, not only as dance, but as presence, expression, courage, and trust. We begin with Earth, grounding into the physical body, bones, and structure. This stage cultivates safety, presence, and a sense of being supported, creating a stable foundation for creative expression. From there, Water enters the journey, filling the body with sensation, emotion, and fluidity. Movement softens, emotions find pathways, and participants reconnect with their expressive depth and sensitivity. Fire then ignites the inner spark. This element brings clarity, direction, and confidence. Movement becomes more intentional, powerful, and assertive, allowing each person to explore how they take space and express themselves in the world. Finally, Air expands the experience beyond the individual body. Movement becomes lighter, more playful and imaginative. Participants connect with the collective field, creativity, and a sense of spacious awareness that links body, mind, and spirit.

This is a guided dance journey designed to help participants discover new ways of moving, expand their creative range, and build confidence in self expression, both on and off the dance floor.

No prior dance experience is required. This space is for anyone curious about creativity, embodiment, and expressing their authentic self through movement.

What makes this different from Ecstatic Dance

Ecstatic Dance is primarily a free flow dance space where you self guide your own experience.

The Elemental Self is a facilitated somatic container with a clear arc, specific prompts, and intentional progression through the elements.

In this workshop you can expect

  • Guided somatic cues to support safety, emotional release, and creative expansion

  • A progressive storyline that builds from grounding to expression to expansion

  • A more intimate and intentional learning experience, not just a dance wave

  • Space for integration so the experience stays in your nervous system, not only in your mind

This is for you if:

  • You feel creatively blocked, self conscious, or stuck in the mind

  • You want more freedom, confidence, and range in your movement expression

  • You are an artist, facilitator or leader wanting to be more comfortable and confident in your body to show up in the world

  • You are in a transitional moment of your life and need to move your energy around.

  • You are a dance junkie and just want to go have fun exploring your own range of freedom

Dance Experienced is not required and is also welcomed.

About your facilitator

ree

Adrián Yozéf aka YoZéF Dragon is a Costa Rican embodiment facilitator, ceremonial DJ, and multidimensional artist with over 13 years of experience guiding transformative experiences through movement, ritual, and sound. Rooted in the Ecstatic Dance and Yoga tradition yet fiercely original, his offerings blend somatic inquiry, blindfolded journeys, elemental embodiment, and a ceremonial approach to dance that inspires people to feel safe when awakening the raw intelligence of the body and the spirit within.

He has studied Hatha, Raja, Ashtanga and Kundalini Yoga which has led him to understand the energetic body in his personal movement practice spanning 14 years. He has also practiced other movement disciplines such as Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Contact Dance, Contemporary Dance and has received a certified immersion in Dance Therapy.

His first encounter with Ecstatic Dance was in Nevada City, California in 2016 while on a trip around the world, where he had his next ecstatic experience in Barcelona. From these experiences after 7 months of travel, he joined a group of Contact Improv Dancers to found Danza Ecsta-Tica, the first monthly Ecstatic Dance event in San Jose, Costa Rica.

He is also the founder of Beyond Dance in 2020, a project that has evolved over the years into a sanctuary for ecstatic self expression, sensual awakening, and spiritual connection through music, dance and ritual. His DJ sets are known to be storytellers, deep rituals—woven to activate archetypes, and awaken the dancer's imagination to dissolve the separation between mind and body.

As a facilitator, he is known by the intentional use of his voice - soothing, evocative, and rhythmically attune - to naturally and effortlessly create safe, light-spirited, and fun containers for participants to explore the mysteries of the body, heal through presence, and reclaim their full expressive aliveness. Inviting to move from a place of authenticity and embodied freedom.

Not only has he shared his medicine with the local Costa Rican community but also in Colombia, across Europe and online as an Embodiment Mentor, equipping him with the skills to hold space for diverse crowds, big and small.

He has performed at Ecstatic Dance communities such as: París, Rome, Prague, Zagreb, Barcelona, Naples, Nantes, Bordeaux, Barcelona, Medellín and Bogotá. He has also collaborated and co-produced with international artists such as J.Pool, Yemanjo and Temple Step in Costa Rica.
