Leah Song Project at Awake

On Tuesday, March 7th at 7pm Awake Uvita is excited to welcome the Leah Song Project (Leah is part of Rising Appalachia and brings bassist David Brown) with opening support from Drew LaPlante, original heartsong singer-songwriter. Join Leah, David and Drew for an intimate, post-Envision Festival decompression evening in Awake's beautiful Surya Shala.

Leah Song is a storyteller, song-catcher, musician, poet, and activist known for her role as front woman of Rising Appalachia with her sister Chloe Smith. She incorporates sultry vocals, rhythm, banjo, guitar, ballads, dance, spoken-word and storytelling into her work. Her music is based in the traditions of Southern soul and international roots music. Song engages in social activism and is involved with the environment, food justice, human rights and prisons. She has studied and worked alongside some of the greatest teachers of our time... including Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Martin Shaw, Joanna Macy, Charles Eisenstein, Winona LaDuke, Sobunfu Some, and Rosemary Gladstar... Gathering tools and teachings of resilience, mythology, grief, creative ritual, and rewilding.

Drew LaPlante is an original heartsong artist and co-founder of Awake. He shares his heart through his music with no filter and deep sincerity. In these sharings he creates an atmosphere that encourages listeners to live fully and freely from that open heart space. His upbeat beach-folk and original medicine songs inspire human connection and exalt the values of beauty, freedom and love.

Awake Uvita is a conscious life center located along a lush riverside in Uvita, Costa Rica. The concert will be held in the Surya Shala, an intimate setting with professional sound and a capacity of 144. Only 80 tickets will be sold for this show, in addition to the guests already staying at Awake and participating in the Envision Decompression Retreat with Momentom Collective and Selva Armonia.
