Film: Hummingbird, the bitcoin jungle story

Join us at Awake for a special screening of the film “Hummingbird: The Bitcoin Jungle Story". The director of the film, alongside Lee Salminen—a key pillar of the Bitcoin community in Uvita—will introduce the film, which was shot in and around the Uvita area. After the film, they will then host a discussion, answer any questions the audience may have about Bitcoin. The film explores the origins of an organic farmer’s market in Uvita, Costa Rica, weaving together themes of trust, spirituality, and an ancient myth known as the prophecy of the eagle and the condor. By diving into the profound impact of colonialism in Central America, the film examines how institutions like the IMF and World Bank have shaped the region over time, illuminating how Bitcoin has arisen within the community as a natural response to a systemic problem.
