About the Event

Social Circus is a universal, accessible practice that uses circus skills to empower individuals, foster creativity, and build community. Through playful challenges in coordination, balance, and expression, it supports personal transformation, confidence, and meaningful interpersonal connection.

Flow is a state of deep, effortless immersion in which one becomes fully absorbed in a meaningful challenge with a perfect balance of skill and difficulty. In this state, time softens, self-consciousness fades, and individuals experience heightened focus, creativity, and authentic fulfillment.

In this offering, we welcome participants of all experience levels into a laboratory designed to evoke the flow state through circus and flow art exploration. With props such as juggling balls, poi, hoops, diabolos, flower sticks, and spinning plates—plus any toys you’d like to bring—we will co-create an atmosphere where curiosity, focus, and bliss can naturally arise, allowing each individual to discover their own version of flow.

About Kat Alexander

Kat has been in the realm of Social Circus and Flow since 2005. Working with humans of all ages, she has been devoted to sharing her knowledge and passion for this form of embodied play with her community for 20 years. In 2009, she published her Master’s thesis, “Social Circus and Flow: A Constructive Model for Building Healthier Communities,” analyzing the cognitive, emotional, and social benefits of engagement in Social Circus and the way it brings about Flow. In addition to her pursuits in education, Kat has spent 15 years working as a circus variety entertainer, fire dancer, and clown between New York and Costa Rica.
