*Shared Gravity: A Contact Improv Lab with Forrest*
A practice of listening, responsiveness, trust, and moving together.
This workshop will develop your ability to move, both as an individual and as part of a group.
Together we’ll investigate a handful of themes, including weight sharing, balance, lifting/flying, coordination, improvisation, subtle-body awareness, and more.
Movers of all levels will find value in this workshop. Expect to be challenged physically and mentally, and expect to grow in the face of that challenge.
Workshop Flow:
9am-11:30am — Guided Exercises, Explorations, Movement Puzzles
11:30am-12pm : Breaktime — snacks, water, journaling
12pm-1:30pm — Contact Improv Jam, followed by a space for sharing.
About your Facilitator:
Forrest is a movement practitioner of the Ido Portal lineage. He’s been a part of the CI world for 10 years, and has facilitated CI classes at Awake since 2023. His approach to movement is to find balance by exploring the extremes of Yin/Yang, fast/slow, hard/soft, etc.
Forrest is a Costa Rican resident — you can find him on any given Sunday at Awake’s Ecstatic Dance. If not on the dance floor, you might find him working in the garden, scouring the farmers market for high-quality cacao, or playing with his pup.
