Deep Dive into Contact Improvisation

Join us to explore, research & play in Contact Improvisation - learn to fly while dancing together

This one-day workshop is an invitation to immerse yourself in the world of Contact Improvisation - a dance form rooted in curiosity, touch, and the joy of moving together while sharing weight.

Through guided explorations, playful scores, and moments of open dance, we will tune into the principles of weight sharing, momentum, and listening through the body.

Whether you are new to Contact Improvisation or an experienced mover, this day offers space to deepen your awareness, expand your range of movement, and connect with others in a safe and inspiring environment.

We’ll work with grounding, rolling, falling, and flying - discovering how trust and communication through touch can bring lightness and freedom to our dance.

This workshop welcomes participants of all levels.

With over 20 years of experience teaching mixed groups, Tom creates a space where beginners can safely explore the fundamentals, while experienced practitioners can deepen and refine their technique.

About your facilitator

Tom Goldhand is a dancer, dance teacher, and group facilitator and owner of his own dance school in Amsterdam.

Over the past 20 years, Tom has been teaching regularly at various festivals across Europe and runs his own training programs in Amsterdam and Utrecht (the Netherlands). He is also the co-organizer of the Dutch Contact Festival, now in its seventh year.

In addition, Tom teaches classes and master workshops at Fontys and ArtEZ Dance Academies, as well as in various professional dance companies.
