Workshop

Authentic Relating

with

Lexi

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Thursday 16 Apr

Enjoy an afternoon with community in deeper authenticity and connection, while raising awareness and expanding communication tools.

What is Authentic Relating

At its simplest, authentic relating is a groundbreaking relational practice that creates profoundly enriching, enlivening, and nourishing relationships in all social domains of life, from the bedroom to the boardroom, with intimate partners and perfect strangers and everyone in between. Authentic relating is both a key and a map that allows people to unlock and explore the vast and extraordinary landscape of human connection that lies beyond the scope of most typical relationships. It is a practice that heals old wounds, softens and settles reactive nervous systems, and allows people to be deeply seen, heard, and accepted for who they are – even in their most recessed, darkest, scariest innermost selves.

Authentic relating is a strongly effective prescription for social isolation and loneliness and all of its attendant manifestations – depression, anxiety, hopelessness, addiction, self-harm, and even physical degeneration. Humans need to be in connection with other humans – when we are in connection with others, we thrive and are productive and creative, and when we aren’t, we wither and suffer, and become despondent, lethargic, and lifeless.

Authentic Relating helps me to be more of myself, giving room for the wisdom of my body to be part of the relational dynamic, thus encouraging me in deeper presence and in touch with the rawness and compassion for humanity - my own and others.

These complementary practices balance the active and receptive energies within, harmonizing body, mind, and breath.

The journey closes with Yoga Nidra - a guided relaxation experience of profound rest and inner awakening, returning you home to your natural state of peace.

TRU Yoga

TRU Yoga is designed to establish students in The Resonance of Unity - the living state of yoga. Special Event

Chocolate Groove

with

Jesse "CACAOBOY" Buck

7:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Friday 17 Apr

After 2 years… Chocolate Groove returns to Awake.

While we’ve been hosting gatherings across the region since 2021 — from jungle dancefloors to sunset silent discos on the beach — this marks our first return to Awake since 2022.

That last gathering… was something special. It was one of the very first Sunday dances held in this space — before what is now known as Dance Church became what it is today.

Now, we come back.

This evening is an invitation into a deep journey of movement, music, and heart-opening connection.

We begin by awakening the body through a guided movement workshop, gently opening the space and arriving together. From there, we drop into a ceremonial cacao offering, grounding into presence and intention.

We invite everyone to bring their own cup for the cacao ceremony, as part of holding a more conscious and sustainable space.

As the journey unfolds, we move into an ecstatic dance “party” experience — still a no phone, no talking on the dance floor container — with space for connection off the dancefloor.

Guided by two immersive DJ sets — weaving rhythm, energy, and expression.

We close with a soundbath meditation, allowing the body and nervous system to integrate, soften, and land in stillness.

This is a space to move, connect, release, and return to yourself — held within a conscious and intentional container.

EVENT FLOW

6:00 PM — Community Dinner (optional, by donation / weight)

7:00 PM — Arrival & Social Space

7:30 PM — Cacao Ceremony (Gaby Amaya)

8:00 PM — DJ Set — Jesse “Cacaoboy” Buck

9:30 PM — DJ Set — Johnny Dragon (Live DJ + Sax — Birthday Set)

11:00 PM — Soundbath Meditation

11:30 PM — Closing

FACILITATORS & ARTISTS

Johnny Dragon

Live DJ and saxophonist bringing a dynamic fusion of rhythm and melody — blending electronic beats with live instrumentation. This special birthday set is a celebration in itself, inviting the dancefloor into a playful, expressive, and high-energy journey.

Jesse “Cacaoboy” Buck

Founder of Chocolate Groove — a cacao ecstatic dance movement rooted in Toronto and running for nearly 8 years — Jesse has been cultivating conscious dance experiences that bridge ceremony and celebration.

Chocolate Groove has been bringing its energy to Costa Rica since 2021, becoming especially known for its sunset silent discos on the beach.

This return to Awake marks a meaningful full-circle moment — reconnecting with a space that helped seed the culture that continues to thrive today.

Gaby Amaya — Cacao Ceremony

Latin American artist, yoga & meditation teacher, and holistic art therapist with Mayan roots, Gaby is devoted to creating spaces for healing and self-discovery. She weaves ancestral wisdom, cacao medicine, and creative practices to guide deeply transformational, heart-centered experiences.

Unveiled: A Return to Her

with

Jess Cam

9:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Saturday 18 Apr

This is an invitation to step into our heartspace.

To soften, open & remember.

Unveiled is a day of deep inner exploration, where we gently peel back the layers and reconnect with the truth of who we are beneath conditioning, expectation, and fear.

Together, we will:

• Open our hearts with ceremonial cacao

• Move our bodies with intention and sensual presence

• Awaken our truths through voice activation

• Explore shadow work with compassion and honesty

• Engage in connection rituals that foster authenticity and trust

Meet Your Facilitators

Join Jess, Julie and Gitte in a space devoted to healing feminine relationships, starting with the one we hold within ourselves.

As we meet ourselves more fully, we begin to see one another more clearly — beyond comparison, beyond judgment, beyond masks.

Here, you are invited to be witnessed in your truth.

Jess Cam is a facilitator and community builder devoted to creating spaces where women reclaim their power through radical authenticity and deep self-ownership. She guides women to step into their truth, soften the grip of the inner critic, and reconnect with their innate voice, desires, and inner wisdom.

Blending embodiment practices, tantric principles, and authentic relating, she holds transformative containers where women are invited to be fully expressed—in their vulnerability, their strength, their wildness, and their truth. Her work is an invitation to shed conditioning, cultivate self-trust, and experience the freedom that comes from living unapologetically aligned with who they truly are.

Julie Liberty Rose is a mother, space holder, cacao medicine carrier, & community builder supporting others in reconnecting with their voices, truth, and inner strength. She crafts her own ceremonial cacao with the intention of gathering community to deepen connection, presence, and heart-resonance.

She is passionate about creating spaces where women feel safe to be seen, heard, and expressed in their authenticity. Through voice activation & singing she guides women to soften into their hearts while standing firmly in their truth.

At the core of her work is the belief that it is essential for community to gather in the heartspace. By coming together with openness, we move beyond patterns of comparison and learn to truly see one another. In these spaces, the potential for trust, collaboration, and genuine community emerges, laying the foundation for each of us to support one another and co-create a more conscious and connected way of living.

What You May Release

• Fear of being seen, heard, or fully expressed

• Patterns of comparison, judgment, or disconnection with other women

• Emotional blocks held in the body and heart

• Suppressed truth, voice, and sensual energy

What You Open To

• A deeper sense of self-acceptance and inner safety-pinned

• Authentic expression — speaking and embodying your truth

• Reconnection to your body, sensuality, and feminine essence

• Heart-led connection with other women rooted in trust and presence

• Greater clarity around your emotions, needs, and boundaries

Optional Awake Lunch available in Cafe Cora! We serve vegan, organic and gluten-free lunch in our lunch-break from 12-1.30pm

Contact Improv Dance

with

Forrest Towers

9:45 AM – 10:45 AM
Sunday 19 Apr

In this class:

We have fun

We sweat

We discover new parts of ourselves

We discover who we are in relation to space, movement and other bodies

Contact Improv is a form of dance that can be performed solo, with a partner, or with a group. It is a purely improvisational dance form meaning there are no "moves". When performed it often includes elements of contemporary dance, acrobatics, theatre, partner dance... to name a few.

In this class we use Contact Improv as a doorway into deep connection to source creativity. Everyone is capable of being a vessel for creativity to flow through.

We practice in a playful and focused environment. Through different exercises and games we work on:

Mobility

Reflexes

Agility

Functional strength

Balance

Improvisation

Coordination

Spatial and internal awareness

Creating deep bonds with others

+ more

We create a safe space to push ourselves and each other into the places that are uncomfortable yet rewarding. This class is accessible to all levels of bodies and only requires a willingness to try one’s best. No experience needed!

Dance

Ecstatic Dance

with

GaiYatra

11:11 AM – 1:30 PM
Sunday 19 Apr

Ecstatic Dance at Awake isn't a party. It's a guided journey through music and movement, a space to move freely, without performance or expectation.

People come for different reasons. To shake off the week, get back into their body, explore something emotional, or honestly just because they like the music. All good reasons.

What is ecstatic dance?

It's a non-verbal, substance-free movement experience. No choreography, no steps to learn. You listen to your body and follow it.

The DJ builds a musical arc over the session, it ramps up, opens out, then brings you back down. During that time, you might release tension you didn't know you were carrying, or connect with someone across the room without either of you saying anything.

Unlike most dance settings, this one is designed so you can actually be yourself. Go hard, go soft, or sit on the floor and close your eyes. Nobody's watching.

Why the agreements matter

These aren't arbitrary rules. They're what make this feel different from a regular dance night.

No talking. Silence keeps you in your body and out of small talk. It also means the person next to you can stay in their own experience. When words drop away, movement fills the gap.

Consensual interaction. Connection is welcome, always with awareness. Read people non-verbally. Respect a "no" the instant you sense it. Hands together means "not right now." Simple. This is what lets people actually relax.

No substances. No alcohol, no drugs. What you feel comes from you, not a substance. Most people are surprised how much more they feel without it.

No phones or photos. People move differently when they know nobody's filming. Leave your phone in your bag.

Clean and respectful space. Show up reasonably clean. Be aware of sweat and shared space. Leave it how you found it.

When to show up

Every Sunday morning.

Opening circle at 11:11am sharp. Please be on time, we start together

After the dance

At 1pm we share a powerful community closing ceremony with sharings and music. At 1:30pm there's an organic, plant-based buffet at Café Cora. Great food, great people. A time to connect and land.

Remember that you don't need to know how to dance. Just show up.

See you Sunday.

Sound Healing

with

Austin Jacob Trumpower

7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Tuesday 21 Apr

This sound bath is designed as a journey into inner peace and harmony. It begins with intention setting, heart connection, and gentle breathing to awaken each participant’s optimal potential for wellbeing—recognizing that true healing happens from within.

From this space of sovereignty, the experience transitions into surrender, allowing the soundscape created by the bowls to harmonize the field both internally and externally, supporting a restructuring of one’s vibration from the inside out. With the external frequencies and the coherence of the heart resonating together, the intention is for participants to leave in a state of deep harmony that can be integrated with ease and grace.

About the Facilitator

Austin Trumpower is a holistic practitioner who has been working with sound healing for over three years. During this time, he has used a set of seven crystal singing bowls to create powerful and coherent harmonic spaces that support regulation and transformation.

Workshop

Authentic Relating

with

Lexi

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Thursday 30 Apr

Kundalini Vinyasa

with

Vajra Luz

8:00 AM – 9:15 AM
Friday 1 May

Kundalini Vinyasa is a dynamic yetmeditative practice that brings together breath, movement, and awareness to awaken and balance the body and mind. Drawing from Kundalini yoga, it incorporates breath techniques, meditation, and focused sequences (kriyas) that are designed to gently stimulate and organize the body’s energy.

These practices are combined with Hatha Vinyasa flow, linking posture and breath to help move and integrate that energy through the physical body. The result is a practice that is both activating and grounding: building strength and stability while also creating space for subtle awareness and inner stillness.

With a focus on steady attention, the class invites you to feel how alignment in the body supports clarity in the mind. This form of practice opens the heart to intention and reflection, an important framework for connecting your practice on the mat with how you move through your daily life.

Ecstatic Dance

with

Adrian Yozef

11:11 AM – 1:30 PM
Sunday 3 May

Tuesday 5 May

Thursday 14 May

Sunday 17 May

Dance

Ecstatic Dance

with

TBA

11:11 AM – 1:30 PM
Sunday 17 May

Tuesday 19 May

Class

Contact Improv Dance

with

Forrest Towers

9:45 AM – 10:45 AM
Sunday 31 May

Dance

Ecstatic Dance

with

TBA

11:11 AM – 1:30 PM
Sunday 31 May

Special Event

CEREMONIA

with

GaiYatra

6:30 PM – 9:45 PM
Friday 26 Jun

2.5-hour ceremonial DJ journey with GaiYatra

Ceremonia is a long-form dance journey where the music has time to breathe and the dance can fully unfold.

We begin by sharing a cup of ceremonial cacao, then enter 2.5 hours of evolving sound — heart-felt ceremonial songs, organic soundscapes, medicine music, deep bass and tribal rhythms. We close with a deep sound bath.

We hold the room as a sacred space, in noble silence.

The dance becomes prayer.

The altar at the center is a place to return, to rest, to listen.

6:30 Arrival

6:45 Cacao Ceremony

7:00 Cermonial Dance

9:30 Closing Circle

9:45 Event Ends

This is not a party.

It is a ceremony.

Each journey is guided in the moment — reading the room, moving with what is alive, allowing different states and energies to move through. Come move.

Come be.

Come share the journey. ✨
