About the event
Contact Improv Dance with Forrest
In this class:
- We have fun
- We sweat
- We discover new parts of ourselves
- We discover who we are in relation to space, movement and other bodies
Contact Improv is a form of dance that can be performed solo, with a partner, or with a group. It is a purely improvisational dance form meaning there are no "moves". When performed it often includes elements of contemporary dance, acrobatics, theatre, partner dance... to name a few.
In this class we use Contact Improv as a doorway into deep connection to source creativity. Everyone is capable of being a vessel for creativity to flow through.
We practice in a playful and focused environment. Through different exercises and games we work on:
- Mobility
- Reflexes
- Agility
- Functional strength
- Balance
- Improvisation
- Coordination
- Spatial and internal awareness
- Creating deep bonds with others
- + more
We create a safe space to push ourselves and each other into the places that are uncomfortable yet rewarding. This class is accessible to all levels of bodies and only requires a willingness to try one’s best.
Price:
1000 - 5000 Sliding Scale

About Forrest:
Movement has been Forrest’s passion his entire life. He played sports throughout his childhood and adolescence. At university he discovered yoga, which changed his trajectory and was the beginning of his expedition into conscious movement. Soon after he was introduced to Contact Dance by his roommates who were dance majors. 8 years have passed since then - he’s since committed himself to evolving as a dancer and a teacher.   He cultivates a daily movement practice that includes elements of yoga, martial arts, acrobatics, strength training, calisthenics, and several forms of dance. He spent some years as a yoga teacher in the U.S. and Nicaragua. He’s participated in hundreds of movement workshops and thousands of dances across North America and Europe. Over the last 2 years he’s been sharing classes and jams at Awake. Outside of dance he lives and works on a farm, is a musician and drummer in a Gypsy band and enjoys being in nature and writing fictional stories.
