About Your Teacher: Carlos Mora
Carlos Mora is a proud Costa Rican born in Pérez Zeledón and raised in Guápiles, Limón — the son of a Boruca father and a mother from Pejibaye. Rooted in his cultural heritage and shaped by the diversity of the regions he grew up in, Carlos brings a grounded, joyful presence to everything he does.
Positive, determined, and full of natural charisma, he carries a deep love for nature, human connection, and the traditions of his land. An avid athlete, he finds inspiration in surfing, skateboarding, football, and basketball — passions that mirror his adventurous, active spirit.
Carlos has lived in Uvita for the past twelve years, during which he learned English through real-life practice while working in local businesses such as Super BM, Gollo, Café Mono Congo, Phat Noodle, and Pancito Café. These experiences shaped not only his language skills but also his love for teaching and connecting across cultures.
For over five years, Carlos has been refining his own approach to teaching Spanish. His methodology is rooted in adaptability, creativity, and dialogue — recognizing that every student learns differently. He offers a relaxed and practical learning environment that welcomes individual learning styles and encourages natural conversation.
He is currently writing a book that distills the insights, techniques, and lived wisdom he has gathered over the years — a system designed to support diverse learners and make Spanish feel accessible, intuitive, and alive.
About Spanish Classes with Carlos

Warm, personal, and interactive, his classes make learning Spanish not only effective — but meaningful.
Review from student Jade
Carlos has significantly boosted my confidence as a beginner Spanish learner. His emphasis on speaking Spanish during lessons, using engaging questions and conversations, has made learning enjoyable and culturally enriching. His fluency in English allows him to explain Spanish structures clearly, making complex concepts more accessible. Initially, I felt the material was advanced, but under his guidance, I quickly progressed to using past and future tenses. Carlos's approach, focusing on real conversational skills, has made me more confident in speaking with locals. While learning a new language requires effort, Carlos's mentorship has accelerated my progress, making it the most effective language learning experience I've had.
