Agreements That Hold: Designing the Social Architecture of Thriving Communities
Talk hosted by Jason Thomas
Many communities don’t fail because of land, money, or design. They fail because the invisible structures were not put in place.
After visiting dozens of communities and co-founding his own education-focused ecovillage in Costa Rica, Jason Thomas has spent over a decade helping regenerative projects establish the agreements, governance systems, and cultural frameworks that allow them to truly flourish.
In this session, Jason offers a clear and highly practical guide to community design:
• How to create member agreements that prevent conflict
• Governance models that support resilience and transparency
• What founders must clarify before inviting others in
• How to align values, roles, responsibilities, and decision-making
• The lessons learned from Costa Rica’s vibrant ecosystem of ecovillages
Participants will leave with mindsets for crafting the invisible structures that allow regenerative communities — eco-villages, retreat centers, intentional projects - to function with clarity, trust, and coherence.
This talk is part of the Regenerative Stewardship Lab Event & Talk Series from January 6th - 14th. Come enjoy each evening event individually, or mix and match as you like! Find more info about the Regen Lab here.
